“I first discovered Danny’s work in 2004, when I was producing The Little Book of Creativity. It was a freshness, and a high degree of creativity in his work then, and he had 10 full pages in that book. Now, in my new venture of producing the very first eBooks for the graphic design works, I chose to include nearly 200 (check this number –) of his posters in Posters 1 and Posters 2. To put this into perspective, our first 8 eBooks include work from about 750 creative firms from nearly 40 countries. Danny’s work represents nearly 10% of the total work in these books. I see his as a budding superstar of the art world. I am watching his career with a great deal of interest, and anticipation. I can’t wait to see what’s next for him.” -David E. Carter / Bright Books
“Danny J. Gibson has more or less flown under the national radar for the past decade or so, but in Kansas City he’s been a presence with memorable, utterly original posters for music gigs, arts events and community happenings… Gibson’s imagery is always surprising, even if — or maybe because — it’s almost impossible to describe. Freely ranging across folk styles, punk/zine influences, found-art collage and way more, his vision often appears to be about freeing the imagination to forage widely in the subconscious (yes, his art is surreal, too)…combination of conceptual spark with a whiff of spontaneous combustion (not to mention a slightly dazed quality) that I find sophisticated, slapdash, wry, earnest and charming all at once.” -Tom Biederbeck / Felt & Wire
